Teej Festival Celebrated with Cultural Zeal at Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala Manjki
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਉਪ ਕੁਲਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਫ਼ੈਸਰ (ਡਾ.) ਕਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਨੁਮਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਜਗਸੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਅਗੁਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦਾ ਹਰਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ “ਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲਾ” ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਰਮਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਸੁਪਰਵਾਇਜ਼ਰ, ਇਸਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਤੌਰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਸਹੋਤਾ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਜਤਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਮੈਂਬਰ (ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਪੰਚਾਇਤ ਜੰਡਿਆਲਾ ਮੰਜਕੀ) ਬਤੌਰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਰ ਚੰਨ ਲਾਏ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਜਗਸੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਭ-ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੇਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਖਾਸ ਸ਼ਖਸ਼ੀਅਤਾਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਤਰਸੇਮ ਸਿੰਘ (ਜੰਡਿਆਲਾ ਲੋਕ ਭਲਾਈ ਮੰਚ), ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਸੋਢੀ (ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੈਂਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ, ਜੰਡਿਆਲਾ), ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਚੰਦਰ ਸ਼ੇਖਰ ਵਰਮਾ (ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੈਂਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ, ਬੰਡਾਲਾ), ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਅਰਚਨਾ (ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੈਂਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ, ਸਮਰਾਏ), ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ (ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੈਂਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ, ਸਮਰਾਏ-ਜੰਡਿਆਲਾ) ਦਾ ਵੀ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਮੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚੱਝੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸ. ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ (ਯੂ.ਐਸ.ਏ.) ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।
Under the aegis of Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, and the leadership of Dr. Jagsir Singh Brar, Principal of Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala Manjki, the vibrant festival of Teej was celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour on 14th August 2025.
The event began with a warm welcome to Smt. Ramanjeet Kaur Brar from the Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. She was accompanied by Smt. Kuldeep Kaur Sahota, Smt. Narinder Kaur, Smt. Jatinder Kaur and other respected panchayat members of Jandiala Manjki
The Special Guests of the event were the Principals of the participating schools:

· Mr. Chander Shekhar Verma, Principal, Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Bundala

Principal Dr. Jagsir Singh Brar extended a heartfelt welcome to all guests and dignitaries. In his address, he emphasized the cultural, traditional, and historical importance of the Teej festival, particularly in Punjabi society.It reflects the soul of Punjabi tradition, celebrating monsoon, womanhood and family bonds. The event beautifully showcased the colours, rhythms, and emotions of Punjab through traditional performances by students from the college and nearby schools.
The program commenced with a soulful Lok Geet by BCA Semester 3 students—Khushi, Simran, Komal, and Saraswati—which created a serene and melodious atmosphere to begin the celebrations.
Following this, the audience was treated to a high-energy group dance performance by students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bundala, which beautifully captured the strength and vibrancy of Punjabi folk culture.
Next, the college students took the stage with an electrifying Bhangra, infusing the air with rhythm, colour, and festive excitement.
The momentum continued with a graceful cultural dance by students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Jandiala, which showcased the elegance and charm of traditional Punjabi movements.
To add a touch of humour and folk storytelling, BCA students presented a delightful sequence of Punjabi Tappe, which was well-received for its authenticity and spirited delivery.
This was followed by a group performance by Amardeep Public Senior Secondary School, Samrai, where the students displayed a deep sense of pride and connection to their cultural roots through vibrant dance and music.
Further enriching the lineup, Simran Kaur from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Jandiala Manjki, captivated the audience with a solo Bhangra performance, which stood out for its power, energy, and captivating stage presence.
Finally, the event culminated with an emotional and expressive Gidha performance by the college students. Through rhythmic clapping, song, and dramatized expression, they depicted the joyful return of a married woman to her parental home during Teej, along with scenes from a traditional Punjabi wedding. The performance left a lasting impact on the audience, celebrating the emotional depth and cultural significance of the occasion.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Miss Teej Competition, which included a question-answer round centered on Punjabi culture and traditions. The winners were:
· Miss Teej - Taranpreet Kaur
· Miss Punjaban - Manjot Cheema
· Miss Confidence - Jasdeep Kaur
· All-Rounder of Event - Simran Kaur
The event concluded with a heartfelt felicitation of Smt. Ramanjeet Kaur, Guest of Honour, by the college staff and Panchayat members of Jandiala Manjki, acknowledging her valuable presence and contribution.
Principal Dr. Jagsir Singh Brar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Balwinder Singh, alumnus of Guru Gobind Singh University College, Jandiala, currently residing in the USA, for his generous financial support towards the Teej Festival. His contribution played a pivotal role in the successful organisation of this cultural celebration, allowing our students to showcase and cherish the rich traditions of Punjab. His gesture reflects his deep connection with his alma mater and serves as an inspiration for the entire college community.
